Engineering Data
Auburn bearing ratings are based upon 3500 hours life expectancy of 90% of the bearings with an average life expectancy of 10,000 hours when used with the following factors:
Safety Factor = 1.000 (Light Service - Steady Load) Life Factor = 1.00 (3500 Hours) Speed Factor = (Dependant upon R.P.M.) -------------- Bearing Selection
To determine the thrust load capacity of the selected bearing but using different factors than those noted above, the following formula must be used:
R x f = Thrust Load Capacity in Pounds F x L
Where: F = Safety Factor L = Life Factor f = Speed Factor R = Catalog Rating in Pounds @ 100 R.P.M. To select a bearing for a specific thrust load capacity, the following formula must be used:
G x F x L = Thrust Load Capacity, in pounds, required at 100 R.P.M. (See note) f
Where: G = Given or assumed load F = Safety Factor L = Life Factor f = Speed Factor Note: Under 100 R.P.M. column on the appropriate page select a load equal to or greater that the required load found above. The proper bearing number appears to the left.
